Cycle Lanes: Casali Colorsint and Colortop
“One of the novelties of the Relaunch Decree, in Italy, is the push to make cities greener and more accessible, encouraging the purchase of non-polluting means of transport such as bicycles and scooters. This means that municipalities will have to redesign their urban and non-urban traffic network routes, including cycle paths and lanes, previously regulated by Ministerial Decree 30/11/1999 and later by law no. 2 of 11 January 2018 for the development of a national cycle lane network in Italy.
Urban and non-urban cycle lanes are also currently being constructed in the EU area, in order to develop a cycle lane network that connects cities of the greatest tourist and cultural importance in the EU. Urban and non-urban cycle routes are developed for work, school, tourist and leisure mobility and must quite rightly comply with strict design parameters that guarantee safety and permit their perfect integration and inclusion in the road network in different areas and contexts.
As early as 1992 Casali Sport had developed a paving system specifically designed for cycle lanes, that is today one of the flagships of the brand, called COLORSINT, a flooring system consisting of a highly protective coloured resin resistant to the aggression of fuels, wear and tear and UV rays, with anti-slip and anti-glare properties.
After ten years (2002), the Casali family of systems for cycle and pedestrian lanes was extended with the introduction of an easy-to-apply system called COLORTOP that is highly resistant to abrasion.
Both systems are acrylic systems, and thus guarantee the best outdoor performance; the only maintenance the systems require is retopping after years of use (depending on the traffic pressure on the surface); both systems are available in a wide range of Casali and RAL colours, and comply with ANAS specifications.
Having constructed over one thousand cycle lanes all over the world, Casali Sport today offers an efficient and reliable service to municipalities and designers who find themselves having to deal with technical regulations and requirements, and is the current paving supplier of some sections of the Adriatic Cycle Lane Route, an impressive interregional green corridor totalling 1300 km, currently being constructed, that is to link Trieste (TS, Italy) to Santa Maria di Leuca (LE, Italy).”
With a focus on sustainability, accessibility and longevity, the development of cycle lanes and paths is a key step in connecting cities and the communities within them whilst providing a sustainable solution to the ever growing need to minimise our impact on the environment. The Casali Colorsint and Colortop system has set the benchmark for quality products proven to perform and presents an exciting opportunity for development and greater community connection in your area.
